My name is Joseph Bates (brojo, to some). I grew up in Indiana and occasionally exhibit redneck-like tendencies. I attended Duke University, where I studied music composition and got into vocal music. I lived in North Carolina for six years, working here, singing in this group and in a totally sweet renaissance choir, and otherwise engaging in musical snobbery. I currently reside in DC. I enjoy backpacking, music, educating people about stem cell research, Macs, and spicy food. I date a smokin' hot, Olympic-marathon-running genius doctor. She's kind of a big deal.
